I have some very exciting news to share with you all.
It has just been announced that I will take up the post of President of the PR Jury for this year’s Spikes Asia Awards 2012.
As most of you know, Spikes Asia is the region’s own ‘Cannes Lions,’ and is one of the most celebrated and prestigious creativity festivals in the world. I am thrilled to have been asked to take on this role, and look forward to helping define and honour the groundbreaking creativity in the PR industry today.
This position follows my recent stint as a member of the jury for the recent Campaign Asia-Pacific PR Awards, which saw us walk away with the PR Agency Network of the Year accolade. Judging awards provides the opportunity to stop, evaluate, and recognise truly outstanding communications campaigns in today’s always-on world. Too often, PR’s creativity is misunderstood in comparison to other communications disciplines. However, creative skills in relationship and community management, problem-solving, and issues avoidance and resolution, are among the PR industry’s unique points of difference, and can become better recognised through a platform such as Spikes.
So, as a judge, what will I be looking for? Strategic thinking, big ideas grounded in insights and creative engagement are a few things that will most definitely catch my eye. I anticipate lively conversations with my fellow industry peers who are also on the jury, and hope to see you on awards night on the 18th of September in Singapore.
